Or many foodies, the name Le Creuset brings to thinking remember colorful, enamel coated cast iron cookware. However, those who have kept their eye on the French actors with the well-earned reputation as a top cookware maker know it has been rolling out scanty stainless steel cookware as well.

Just in time for holiday feasts, the Tri-Ply Roasting pan ($250) makes its appear. While it’s not large enough to handle a turkey – unless you look upon a bird under 10 pounds to qualify as a turkey – it is the effect size for the other meats on the menu. Not only will lamb, pork and beef cook to acme in this 14.5” x 10.75” x 2.75” roaster, it also can be in use accustomed to for roasting vegetables, cooking casseroles and baking lasagna.

This is a massy-duty pan, but it still can go straight from the oven to the table, where it will shine with its ethical looks (not to mention the good food it bears). It has hard, riveted stainless steel handles that are upright for the cook to grab.

Fire and Flagstone: Homeowners drawn to outdoor flames

In the Redding zone, summer nights stay warm and winter evenings are often waterlogged. Not perfectly ideal conditions for an outdoor fire. But that hasn't stopped people in the north status from warming up to outside flames.

An outdoor fireplace or fire pit can be a central point of the home, adding ambience and extending the backyard ripen. Plus there are the roasted marshmallows to consider.

"It's been very useful to us," said Ann Marie Krahling. She and tranquillity, Jeffrey, had a large fire pit built in front of their country home west of Redding. The fire pit is surrounded by a flagstone patio and there are big boulders that the Krahlings use as seats. The relatives, which includes sons Conrad, 13, and Lorenzo, 12, often roasts hot dogs and marshmallows over the coals. The pit also has become a site to spend time with friends.

"It's a nice place to be. Neighbors young lady it. We have cocktails out there," Ann Marie said.

Rich and Erin Henson had Guiton's Collect Center in Redding add a pool and fire pit earlier this year at their Redding placid. The gas-fueled fire feature is surrounded by pool decking. Even on emotional summer nights, people are drawn to the fire, Erin said.
